Episode 44: Recipe

Sarah's Quick Pickle Recipe
Ingredients
1/3 Cup of Water
1/3 Cup of Rice Vinegar
1/2 TSP of Salt
1/2 TSP of Sugar
1 TSP Dill
1 Clove Garlic
3 Small Cucumbers
Directions
Combine all ingredients except cucumbers in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Slice the cucumber into rounds or spears (your choice I did rounds). Place the cucumber slices into a mason jar or other airtight container. Once the liquid is boiling remove from heat and pour over the cucumbers and then close the container. Shake well to make sure all the cucumbers are saturated. Let sit for 15 minutes. I shook mine every couple minutes to make sure ever cucumber got a chance to pickle. These only take 15 minutes to pickle but I then put mine in the fridge to chill before serving.
Flavor Variations:
1 TSP of Mustard Powder to the sauce pan for a Mustard Pickle
or
1 TSP of Red Pepper Flakes of Gochugaru for a spicy pickle
You could also experiment with other vegetable! For asparagus you do need to the trim the ends and do a quick blanch (flash boil) to soften them slightly.
